Good quality! May doll helmet storage decoration is the noble Tomomi Kato Minamoto Tametomo

This helmet belongs to Minamoto no Tametomo, a military commander from the end of the Heian period. He was a master archer who left behind a legend of his strength. The key point about Minamoto no Tametomo's helmet is the volume of his crest.

The front plate is heavy, but has a very delicate design. It is tied securely with the agemaki knot, an ancient knotting method.
The patterns on the fukigaeshi are painted by hand. The shikoro serves to protect against attacks from behind.
The power of leather straps.
Red is said to be the color of the sun, representing vitality and the source of all life.

A majestic helmet that is said to be a faithful reproduction of the real thing.
The front plate has a gorgeous design, but gives a sophisticated impression. The fukigaeshi on the left and right sides of the helmet protect the face from being hit by a sword.
The helmet bowls are not cut out from a mold, but are machined from metal plate and riveted in place by hand one by one.

Tomomi Kato used leather cords for the armor's shikoro. The contrast between black and gold is luxurious. The shinobio is a bold red. This armor is sewn using leather, instead of the usual thread.
Tomomi Kato has created armor for May dolls that is as close to the real thing as possible.

The crest (kuwagata) is also hand-polished, not machine-made, so when you touch the edge of the crest you can feel some unevenness. However, it is so precisely polished that it is completely invisible to the naked eye.
They are faithfully recreating the armor and helmets of the Heian period.

Please place the bow on the left side and the sword on the right side. Bows and swords are said to "keep away evil spirits and demons" and are sold as talismans at shrines.
Swords are also displayed to protect against demons who dislike shiny things.
Bows and swords were not used for fighting, and it was believed that gods resided in long bows.
Since it is not for fighting, the sheath is placed on top and the handle is placed on the bottom. Displaying the bow and sword on both sides shows that the retainers are guarding the general's armor by his side.

When you see a picture of a dragon and a tiger, you probably think of something brave.
Of course this is true, as these two animals were favored designs by warlords during the Sengoku period as symbols of bravery.
At the core of Buddhist thinking is the image of "The Emperor (the gentleman who governs the territory) standing in front of the dragon and tiger," which is said to represent peace throughout the world.

The helmet stands out against the black folding screen, and the gold-leaf tiger and rising dragon painted in silver and gold are beautifully crafted. The blue dragon in the east and the white tiger in the west are revered as gods protecting the four directions, which is at the core of Buddhist thinking.
This May doll is filled with the wish that the child will have a strong subject in the future as he or she paves their own way.
