The largest May doll, Tokugawa Ieyasu wearing armor
A gorgeous, wearable armor in white and gold.
This was made for those who want to celebrate the Boys' Festival in a luxurious way with a large May festival doll.
The metal fittings featuring a stag beetle made from fern leaves, representing Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified Japan, also emphasize his grandeur.
As a parent, I have always felt the desire to have my son wear this outfit once he grows up.
Note: Boots and shin guards are also included.
Tokugawa Ieyasu was a military commander who brought an end to the unstable Sengoku period, which had lasted for nearly 60 years and was marked by fierce fighting.
He was also the person who moved the capital from Kyoto to Edo, now known as Tokyo.
He established the Edo Shogunate so that people could live in peace and security.
His skill in building a stable life during the Edo period is still highly regarded today.
It is said that the cuckoo has a gentle personality and waits until the right time comes, as in the saying, "If the cuckoo will not cry, then I will wait until it does."
"Pedestal and Screen"
The 130cm high stand screen is a spectacular sight, and the wood grain comes to life as it is displayed.
A pine tree, a symbol of longevity, is depicted inside an arrow, a symbol of warding off evil.
The large feather depicts Mount Fuji as seen from Sunpu Castle, where Tokugawa Ieyasu lived.
Inside the other arrow, I drew a dream treasure ship carrying happiness and gold and silver treasures. I used a technique called pine needle gold leaf processing, which is a modern technique that produces a beautiful finish.
