A gorgeous and impressive May doll wearing a helmet ornament of Kenshin Uesugi

The helmet worn by this May doll is a silver helmet accompanied by a dragon and a tiger.
This shape, which is long on one side and short on the other with a circle in the middle, is called a "sun and moon frontlet."
This front plate is a characteristic of Uesugi Kenshin. The sun and moon are proof of his faith in Bishamonten.

Uesugi Kenshin, who was said to be the cleverest general in the northern Shinetsu region of the Warring States period, was a type of military commander known as a genius.
He was a military commander who never lost a major battle, so much so that he advanced deep into Bishamonten and was called the "God of War" himself.
He was well-educated and, as the anecdote of "sending salt to the enemy" suggests, he was a very compassionate military commander, as has been passed down to later generations.

He is well educated and well versed in the samurai arts, and would never lose a fight.
The May doll wearing the helmet of Uesugi Kenshin is a very popular May doll created in imitation of the heroic figure of Uesugi Kenshin.

【helmet】

The helmet is decorated with the famous "sun and moon frontlet" (depending on the source, the sun disk may or may not have a hole in the middle), and dragons are featured on the rear guard on both sides of the helmet.
The dragon is said to be the god of water and is a motif that represents rising energy.

The Uesugi Kenshin type helmet can actually be worn by children between the ages of 3 and 5. *Individual results may vary. Enjoy this May doll, which is studded with craftsmanship, with each metal plate hand-joined.

[Furniture]

With his back to the folding screen, he holds a bow and arrow in his left hand and a sword in his right hand.
Of course you can pull out the sword.
The tip is rounded to make it less dangerous, but it is boys who want to take up the sword and engage in sword fighting, and it is also boys who need to learn not to swing it around.
It is an expression of the wish for the child to grow up to be a healthy person, and to have the wisdom and strength to not wave a weapon around.

The May dolls are given by the grandparents and parents to welcome the newborn boy and to represent the wishes of the parents for a safe future.
When a boy grows up and learns the story behind his helmet, the first thing he will think is, "Why was this helmet chosen for me?"

Therein lies the joy of giving a May doll with a proper origin.
Hinasei will continue to make high-quality May dolls, hoping that the day will come when you can talk to your children about their history and origins when they grow up.

【folding screen】

The May dolls are placed in an orderly fashion in front of a folding screen that is up to 90 centimetres high.
The base is an unusual home base shape, so its greatest feature is that it can be placed in the corner of a room.
The folding screen features a dragon and a tiger. The blue dragon in the east and the white tiger in the west are revered as gods that protect the four directions in China.

This May doll is filled with the wish that the child will have a strong subject in the future as he or she paves their own way.
